Different buildings for different minds

Educators

My grandson Jacson attends an education support secondary school here in Perth, they cater for a wide range of students with varying levels of disability and education needs. Jacson has always attended an ed support unit for his schooling and I have rarely missed an assembly, mothers day morning tea or any other special event so I know first hand how special and dedicated his teachers and aids are.

If you are a special needs educator I applaud and thank you!

How can I support you to support our children?

Like many other buildings, schools and classrooms have not been designed with any consideration to the needs of neurological disability, and this is understandable as it’s not something widely understood but there are things that can be done to improve the environment that you are teaching in.

There are several ways I can help you.

I can provide a professional development short seminar, Enabling Spaces Fundamentals, which will cover topics such as why we design for autism, some of the most common challenges, autism design theories and benefits of design and provide examples of schools from around the world.

I can undertake an assessment at your school. I can assess areas as small as a single room to the school as a whole and provide you with an easy to reference report outlining a strategy to make changes as time and budget permit.

If you’re not sure about what you need, please contact me and can customise a service to suit you and your budget.

My Churchill Fellowship report has case studies on several schools you may be interested in, download your copy now.
