I’m very proud to be a part of A Place in the World. Based in the USA, the report, released in 2020, provides the foundational nomenclature for housing and service delivery models, establishes best practices and guiding principles, and helps drive crucial partnerships and policy decisions that address pressing needs resulting from the current housing crisis. Aplaceintheworld.org #APlaceintheWorld. I believe the report will have an impact not only in the US but beyond as the challenge of appropriate housing models for people with Autism is a global challenge.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is seeking feedback from people with disability and carers and/or parents of people with a disability on service offerings to support electoral participation at polling places.

Enabling Spaces has been engaged by the AEC to facilitate focus group discussions across different disability sectors to provide opinion on polling place elector support services, and options to best communicate the service offerings to electors through the AEC website. The groups are,

  • Blind and vision impaired
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Mobility and physical disability
  • Cognitive and neurological disability, for example, Autism, anxiety, early onset dementia, sensory processing disorder

Each focus group session will be specific to each of these groups and held on the 12th January 2021; you must be able to attend on this date. Alternative and non-traditional methods of communication can be provided.

Each focus group will have a maximum of 12 participants and will last for no longer than 90 minutes.

Participation is voluntary and refreshments and a token of appreciation will be provided. The venue is located opposite a train station and has onsite free car parking.

Your personal and identity information collected will remain confidential and will only be used to set up the focus groups.

NOTE: completing this form does not confirm your place in a focus group, we will contact you with further information regarding participation. Applicants will be chosen based on the information provided in the expression of interest form to ensure the group represents diversity in knowledge and experience.
